A must-have when travelling: the Find Me Gluten Free app!

A handy tool that I gratefully use on vacation is the Find Me Gluten Free app. In this app you can find restaurants where you can eat gluten free, there are locations all over the world. Not only handy on holiday, but also for eating out in your own country.

How does it work?

You can download the app in both the Google Play Store and the App Store. The app itself is free, there are some premium features available such as finding restaurants suitable for people with celiac disease.

In addition to the app, the information (no account required) is also available on the website. When you have created an account in the app, you can search for restaurants near you or in a specific location. You can also leave reviews about your experience and add restaurants. Something new has recently been added, you can now also leave reviews about gluten-free products in the app.

Premium Features

For € 19.99 per year you can purchase the premium functions. The main reason for a premium account is that you can filter restaurants by 'most celiac friendly'. You will also no longer receive advertisements, you can make lists, search for restaurants on your route and filter by opening hours of restaurants.

The app can also be used without a premium account. With the free account you can filter on 'dedicated gluten-free' if you want to avoid cross-contamination as much as possible.

Based on experiences

Something to keep in mind when using this app is that anyone can add restaurants. As a result, it can sometimes happen that a restaurant in the app has now closed or changed owners. That is why it is always useful to check whether the restaurant still offers gluten-free food. Not everyone who uses the app also has celiac disease, so check whether the restaurant also takes cross-contamination into account.

Do you want more security on holiday? Then go for restaurants that are recognized by the national celiac association or that are completely gluten-free.

Have you been to one of the restaurants? Leave a review to help the next gluten-free traveller choose!
